Systems Design Engineer with extensive experience in a military/defence environment required for defence company based in Stevenage.

Please note, the successful candidate will be required to gain SC Clearance prior to start

Accountabilities:
- Plan, control and deliver assigned projects or work packages.
- Contribute as required across functional/project investigations; ensuring delivery to plan.
- Prepare a full range of specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design assessments in assigned area.
- Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions.
- Assessment of compliancy of design(s) and production of certification and supporting documentation.
- Ensure that all work outputs are peer reviewed before entering signature loop and contribute to others peer reviews.
- Provide effective support to stakeholders/customers in assigned areas, delivering solutions to meet their needs and requirements.
- Support the identification of business opportunities and the preparation of bids in area(s) of expertise to facilitate the development of the highest quality bids
- Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.
- Embed and refine effective System Design working practices
- Ability to cope with uncertainty and create order/structure for own domain.
- Ability to manage several stakeholders and make judgements/recommendations on appropriate actions.

Skills and Knowledge:
Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
A competent practitioner of Systems Design core skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Able to work on own initiative.
Good team member.
A flexible and adaptable approach.
Proven knowledge of company processes & tool sets.
Commercial and financial awareness.
Understanding of business strategy and context.
