Project Engineer - Infrastructure/Highway development
My client has recently begun one of the largest detailed ground investigation studies in the UK.
They are now seeing an experienced Site and Preparation and Clearance Project Engineer with knowledge of Infrastructure/Highway development to help define and manage the deliverables to ensure delivery of key packages of work within agreed timelines and cost.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and manage work packages in relation to Highway works and associated planning - experience working where the local council is the highway authority
- Providing support to ensure that these work packages are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality requirements.
- Working with the Town and Country Planning Act and Section 278 applications, infrastructure/highway development projects and the issues associated with the approval and execution of such construction work.
- Support and lead the co-ordination of activities and the information flow required between relevant directorates and other teams to ensure effective communications and identification of dependencies between work packages and projects.
- Contribute to the development of execution plans, quality plans, budget and resource plans, risk identification and management.
Skills/Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in engineering or environmental roles, including time spent in key roles related to project engineering, civil engineering and quality management activities of construction/demolition work,on a large infrastructure project either in the UK or overseas
- Understanding of contract and work package management, including preparation of technical specifications, tender assessment and quality planning
- A successful track record of applying construction health & safety best practice together with a good knowledge of UK safety legislation. Knowledge and application of H&S and environmental policy and legislation, including CDM Regulations 2007.
- Experience in Town and Country Planning Act and Section 278 applications, infrastructure/highway development projects and the issues associated with the approval and execution of such construction work.
- BPSS cleared or higher security clearance
Desirable
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (or working towards this), member of a relevant professional engineering and/or environmental institute
- Experience in environmental issues associated with the execution of construction work
