TITLE: Senior Project ManagerDEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTING TO: Operations Programme Manager
MAIN PURPOSE:
1. Manage projects in the field of Defence and Government typically consisting of
software engineering and deployment teams.
2. Management of projects through the complete development lifecycle, from
requirements definition through to final delivery.
3. Manage both internal and external resources.
4. Develop relationships with clients and respond to customer needs.
5. Recognise sales opportunities and use your commercial skills to negotiate
contract terms and conditions with the support of the Head of Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
1. Create and execute project work plans and revise these as appropriate through
the life of the project.
2. Identify the resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
3. Manage day to day operational aspects of a project.
4. Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
5. Manage and be accountable for the project time, cost and quality.
6. Effectively apply company methodology and enforce project standards.
7. Prepare for reviews and quality assurance procedures.
8. Minimises Company exposure and risk on project.
9. Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
10. Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
11. Follow up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
12. Keep management informed of progress and issues.
13. Mentor Junior Project Managers
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
* The candidate is expected to have been a practicing Project Manager in a
software environment for a minimum of 5 years.
* The candidate is expected to hold a recognised project management
qualification preferably APMP
* A background in software development would be advantageous
* The use of Microsoft Project Professional and SharePoint would be
advantageous
* The candidate must have experience manging large projects (> one year and
>£1m budget)
* The candidate must have an understanding of financial reporting i.e.
understand and interpret a P&L report.
