Title: IT Field Operations Technician

Location: Birmingham, AL

Our client in Birmingham, AL is seeking an IT Field Operations Technician for an exciting opportunity.

The IT Field Operations Technician will partner with the Client Services Analyst to provide excellent customer service and proactive technical expertise to facilitate the effective use of IT products and services by the customers located at Alabama Corporate Headquarters. This is an operational position for desktop support, voice and data systems, and other wireless technologies (ie peripherals-Blackberry, etc.).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for installing standard, endorsed or certified off the shelf software and/or hardware devices, and provide minimal onsite training to get the client started
  • Responsible for participating in on-call procedures/operations
  • Responsible for interfacing with and coordination of contractors and/or vendors associated with the Field Operations function as appropriate
  • Responsible for interfacing with the customer and other IT groups related to problems and installations as appropriate
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to billing and performance processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for providing expertise on processes and procedures to other technicians as appropriate

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Two-year degree (college/technical/vocational) or equivalent experience in electronics, telecommunications and/or computer technology is required
  • Understanding of the various topologies, eg telecommunications, wireless, data and voice networks and how they interface with each other
  • Ability to logically troubleshoot and repair hardware and software associated with personal computers, peripheral devices, voice systems, data networks, telecommunications systems and ancillary equipment
  • Working knowledge of radio communication systems
  • Knowledge of voice and data wireless systems and troubleshooting techniques
  • Knowledge of data communications and packet switch networks
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, and associated peripheral and software components
  • Must have demonstrated personal computer skills along with a general understanding of corporate applications and standard desktop products
  • Ability to work independently, self -starter with good time management skills
  • Ability to interface with, direct and/or coordinate various contractors as needed
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Field Operations processes and procedures
