Profile summary
Expert knowledge of z/OS systems, disk and tape storage configurations and commonly used z/OS storage administration toolsets.
Provide z/OS storage related technical leadership, guidance and training to internal staff.
Manage and support change, problem and incident management across the Mainframe Storage environment
Participate in development and assessment of Mainframe Storage strategies, technologies and continuity requirements.
Principal duties and responsibilities
Lead support for Mainframe disk and tape hardware, software and configuration changes.
Work with Oracle and Hitachi Hardware engineering in investigating and resolving any hardware related problems.
Work with change and incident management controls and toolset to ensure that storage system administration and management changes are implemented according to business standards.
Provide Operational and Support documentations in adoption and implementation of Mainframe storage change, technologies and related software.
Ensure all Mainframe Storage related software and microcode currency levels are maintained according to business standards.
Exploitation of any Mainframe storage related features available in z/OS and 3rd party software product upgrades, ensuring they are reviewed and adopted where appropriate.
Perform and maintain disaster recovery tests and procedures using TPC/R and Basic Hyperswap.
Provide oncall support for Mainframe storage.
Provide z/OS storage related technical leadership, guidance and training to internal staff.

Represent Storage Support team in relevant meetings such as project initiatives and process improvement.

Skills profile
10 years experience in Mainframe Storage administration
Expert knowledge in Virtual Tape systems.
Knowledge in Oracle VTSS, HSC, ELS/Library station
Expert skills in DFSMS/HSM, ACS routines/ISMF and catalog management
Experience of IBM Utilities such as ADRDSSU,IDCAMS,ICDDSK and TDMF.
Knowledge of Mainframe sysplex technology, RACF and Hyperswap
Experience in troubleshooting Mainframe Storage related production issues and problem solving
Preferred but not essential experience in executing Disaster Recovery tests using TPC/R and or Basic Hyperswap.
Preferred but not essential experience in using Remedy change and incident management tools.
