OHL Lead design engineer

The company:
A sustainable engineering and design consultancy that specialises in complex infrastructure, process and built environments are looking to recruit an experienced OHL lead design Engineer for a major electrification framework contract in Scotland.

The role:
• Act as Principal Line Design Engineer, as directed by the OHL Professional
Excellence Manager.
• Analyse contract documents to ensure correct interpretation of customers/
consultants intentions and liaise as necessary to agree design
requirements.
• Design safe systems, defined as the integrated structure/ overhead line/
civil works, so that they may be supplied and constructed in accordance
with contract documents and/ or current practices. Analyse and resolve
design problems.
• Provide designs, volumes and quantities as required for the estimated &
target cost submissions such that upon acceptance, the budget, programme
and specification can be achieved.
• Attend tests, as required, to verify the suitability of design. Provide
necessary calculations and /or reports to justify test loads and results.
Assist in analysis of test failures.

Who we're looking for:
• Degree level education or the equivalent with formal training in Civil,
Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Possessing or working towards Chartered or Incorporated membership of ICE,
IMechE or IET.
• Experience of HV or EHV Overhead Line design & construction.
• Proven experience of an element of OHL design.
• Familiarity with UK, European & International design codes and standards
for the Electricity Supply Industry, e.g. National Grid or ENA Technical
Specifications, BS EN 50341/ IEC 60826 and IEC Standards in general.
