Client

My client is well established IT Consultancy Firm which specialise in business and strategy advisory, transformation programs, solutions integration, technological applications maintenance and outsourcing services in a wide range of industry sectors.

Project Scope

We need someone who will act as CICS and MQ Engineer within a service team.

The candidate will be the responsible for a knowledge transfer

Role Responsibilities (at least 8 years of experience on the following)

- Install, upgrade and maintain the CICS and CTG software

- Create and maintain CICS regions used by the applications including Assembler and Cobol programs

- Administer the CICS regions according to application demands (eg new transactions, connections etc.) and support the merge process

- Create and maintain the CICS monitoring infrastructure (TMON, System Automation feeds, the 'CICS Monitor' etc)

- Provide statistics on usage to various parties (eg. developers, managers, Operational Security Department)

- Investigate and resolve problems in CICS and related areas

- Performance review and tuning of the CICSes and CTGs

- Investigation and evaluation of new products in the area (eg. the CICS Explorer)

- Provide advice and assistance to developers and other support groups on CICS and CTG matters

- Install and upgrade MQ Series

- Maintain all the MQ systems

- Liaise with all relevant MQ partners ie MUSE, DOC etc. when new objects are planned. Also, with non CICS applications, channels and polling issues.

- Use of MQ monitoring tool TMON for MQ

- Set up and maintain TSO interface to MQ

- Performance and tuning of MQ

- Run jobs ad hoc to copy queues, backups, empty queues, set/block triggers and queues on a request basis by people testing

- Input from the EPO MQ support staff on Volume dump backups by the storage/Legacy group.

- MQ PROD refresh

- 2nd level Incident Resolution ( tickets) related to CICS or MQ from 1st Level Support (the Service Desk)

- Analyze all incidents (tickets) related to CICS or MQ systems, solving or redirecting as appropriate

- Contact users and Business Application owners where necessary, to obtain further details of the problem

- Collect logs, debug where possible/necessary

- Where necessary, escalate to 3rd level support

- Create and track support incidents with the appropriate vendors and support groups

- Implement patches/software upgrades where recommended by the vendor and agreed with application owners

- Collaborate with the appropriate users groups to test the patches and upgrades

- Handle the ITIL processes related to CICS and MQ support - raising and processing Change Requests where required, updating incidents (tickets), liaising with the Problem Managers.

- Maintain a Knowledge Database to enable Continuous Improvement in the handling of the CICS and MQ issues and improve 1st Level resolution rate.

- Performing system Health Checks (capacity,security, availability)

- Monitoring system performance, checking and resolving event logs warnings and errors.

- Publish weekly Reports:

  • Incident & Problem Report
  • Availability Report
  • Capacity Report policies

Candidate Profile

- Candidate must collaborate with a multi-cultural team being a member of the Back Office support Team (English speaking)

- Good relationship level: Multi-cultural team collaboration experience. Being active part of the company growth as part of a multinational team

- Good communication skill required and positive/friendly attitude, ability to solve conflicts

- Availability to support several activities (analysis, optimisation, monitoring, assessment, problem resolution, incident follow-up) sharing and splitting time in dedication %

- Strong commitment with objective based results

- Good reporting and presentation level to the client's key user

- ITIL fundamentals: Compliant documentation, respect client methodology, documentation and deliverable preparation as well as client presentation

- Languages: English mother tongue or Fluent, other languages will be appreciated (French, Dutch or German)

Geographical Scope

The work position will be usually based in Barcelona or The Hague
