Database Administrator / Developer - Bristol - £42,000 (+ excellent benefits)A fantastic new position has come up as a Database Administrator/Developer working with one of Computer Futures key clients in Bristol. You will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of PTG databases, including PCIDSS requirements, data planning, performance tuning, database development and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure data remains consistent across all internal and third party application databases
- Enforce agreed company database policies and standards
- Ensure data security, both in terms of data access and the ability to recover data in the event of disaster
- Maintain Mirror Quorums and perform failovers when necessary
- Monitor all production databases to foresee issues and prevent them from happening
- Maintain a good standard of database design across all PTG internal application databases
- Produce technical specifications and accurate estimates for all application development work (excluding minor bug fixes)
- Installing and testing new versions of the database management system
- Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers
Experience and Skills:
- Experience of Database Administration and operating procedures for MS SQL Server (from 2008 all the way to 2014)
- Excellent T-SQL Scripting for high performance code including stored procedures, views and indexes.
- Be able to perform ETL development tasks using SSI, role will also involves creation of BI data cubes using SSRS
- Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary
- Controlling access permissions and privileges
- Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans
- Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
