A well established consultancy are looking for a contractor to join their team of talented developers for a contract lasting at least 5-6 months with a likely extension.Role/Responsibilities:A senior developer that will utilize the latest J2EE technologies(such as JAVA, EJB, Web services, Middleware, Soap, JUnit) looking for an exciting opportunity to work for a front office IT team supporting the Syndicated Lending business. The candidate should possess senior level Java and J2EE skills, experience with the full software development lifecycle, change management, version control, and solid design principles. The candidate will be working with a global team and requires strong oral and written communication skills. The candidate should be a self-starter and a critical thinker in all areas of the role.Technical Requirements:
- 8+ years' experience as a Software Developer building mission critical production applications.
- 6+ years' experience developing on J2EE platform.
- 5+ years' experience with Build and Deployment tools.
- 5+ years' experience with Relational Databases such as Oracle or SQL Server.
- 4+ years' experience using Object Oriented Programming techniques and a formal software development lifecycle.
- 4+ years' experience building applications as part of a team environment.
- Excellent overall communication skills.
Essential
- Core Java - Ability to write clean simple and efficient code
- Server side development, good multithreading knowledge, good understanding of the JVM & garbage collectors.
- Experience developing large scale enterprise applications in a SOA architecture.
- Good OO design knowledge.
- Experience of TDD or able to demonstrate good knowledge of unit testing and continuous integration.
- Experience of the full development life cycle.
Desirable
- Electronic Trading, Fixed Income products, Basic bond math, CDS instruments.
- Experience of working in an environment of ongoing unit testing, mocking and continuous integration
Location: Old Street
Length: 5-6 months (likely extension beyond this period)
Rate: £500 per day
