Product Manager Payments - 6 to 12 month contract

North London (Excellent salary)

The Product Manager for Payments will have the responsibility of managing the design, development, and delivery of payment systems that support the needs across its global business channels.

We are an international finance company using technology to meet customers' financial needs in a transparent, convenient and responsible way. Lending in nine countries, we serve consumers and businesses via three distinct brands - Wonga (consumer loans), Everline (SME finance) and BillPay (online payments). Our products are Real Time, 24/7 and entirely online and mobile. Headquartered out of London and backed by leading global investors, we employ hundreds of people with over 40 different nationalities.

The Payments team is a small, enthusiastic team focussed on delivering compliant, fit for purpose and where possible, innovative solutions to enable the Group to send and receive funds to individuals and organisations, globally. There is currently a big focus to support the business through its transformation programme, specifically delivering and maintaining new solutions that allow it to deliver on its commitments. The successful candidate will join a 'can do' team and be responsible for a number of payments processes within high profile projects across the business

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the payments process across multiple stakeholders
  • Data integrity; validate information extracted and inputted into the various systems
  • Liaise with 3rd parties vendors to ensure they continue to support payment processes
  • Assist the QA team to ensure all,payments requests are valid and accurate
  • Participate in process design
  • Work with product lines, finance, customer services, fraud and other parts of the business to gather and prioritize requirements for new payment solutions, product features and optimization
  • opportunities for the company's payment properties
  • Write business specifications, and create user flows and mock ups. Work with the Usability and Design teams on Front End designs (where required)
  • Work with domestic and international counterparts on shared features
  • Coordinate with outsourced & internal technology teams to ensure requirements are documented appropriately
  • Use agile methodologies to manage the scope and project manage the launch of new functionality both online and mobile with on-time releases
  • Hold regular status meetings with tech team and business stakeholders
  • Influence the technical architecture, design, development and delivery payment systems
  • Maximize the utility of current payment system and platforms
  • Collaborate with the business teams to develop and manage the payment systems roadmap
  • Work effectively in a strong customer service/team oriented environment
  • Work with Data Security team to ensure security (incl PCI compliance) of the payment platform

The person

  • Product management experience in an online or mobile environment
  • Team player and confident self-starter willing and comfortable engaging with people across the organization
  • Ability to earn trust of team members and stakeholders; actively and productively participating with working teams
  • Strong business acumen, bias towards data driven approach and sufficiently comfortable with numbers to be able to effectively present business justification for new features
  • Excellent oral, written and visual communication skills
  • Proven project management skills - with the ability to manage, influence and deliver multiple projects to tight deadlines
  • Drive and ambition to influence stakeholders and progress projects
  • Proven ability to multitask with a strong attention to detail and be able to work independently
  • Depth of knowledge in payment systems and the payment processing eco-system desirable
  • Ability to earn trust of team members and stakeholders; actively and productively participating with working teams
  • Proven knowledge of application development life cycle and project management discipline
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Exceptional interpersonal problem solving skills
  • Microsoft Office essential, Confluence desirable
