I am looking to hire a Risk Manager for our Defence sector client

Role & Responsibilities

Ensure two- way communication of key risks to inform business decision making,

Facilitate risk identification workshops as required to assist identification of business risk,

Provide guidance and support to planning officers in their role as divisional risk-coordinator,

Identify Risk Management skills gaps for identified individuals and facilitate appropriate training.

The role includes the following:

  • Planning, scheduling, dependency and risk management expertise to the programmes and projects being delivered by the SA PT. Working closely with the Project team to develop & maintain plans & schedules, facilitate the identification/integration of dependencies across project schedules and to assist in the identification, management and maintenance of risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Provide SME & point of contact for Quality and Assurance with regard to planning, scheduling and risk management ensuring that outputs are and comply with Client and DE&S Governance requirements.
  • Will be required to provide, in accordance DE&S policy and guidance, basic training in the principles of Project Planning, Scheduling & Risk Management and the tools utilised in support of these disciplines for SA PT personnel.
  • Assist the project team and all relevant internal and external stakeholders, in the identification and ongoing management of risks including risk review and update processes, ensuring risk responses are planned, resourced and implemented and key risks have identified contingency/fall back plans agreed with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaison with Project Managers to agree and then provide scheduling and risk information for internal project boards and to provide required scheduling and risk information as directed for the various project boards.
  • The post holder will be capable of generating a joint stakeholder bought in schedule and risk associated information to produce schedule risk analysis for PM to help with the management of the project, CAAS scrutiny, input into DE&S business case process and the CMIS system.
  • The post holder will provide support to the wider PT functions eg ensuring the availability of timely information to meet management reporting

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaison with users, sponsors, dstl, Other Government Departments, partner Delivery Teams and other colleagues to deliver the required project outputs.
  • Development of requirements into deliverable programmes, management of the approvals process and subsequent delivery within approved performance, cost and time parameters.
  • Day to day financial management and reporting against their own project.
  • Delivery of supporting defence lines of development and safety cases in support of project outputs.
  • The Post Holder must have the ability to work under their own initiative with minimal supervision, have a flexible approach to the day to day tasks required of a Project Manager and cope with a challenging workload.
  • Good communication skills and a sound knowledge of DE&S processes is required.

Essential Experience:

Must have good working knowledge of Active Risk Manager and EPM 2010. APMP or PRINCE 2 qualifications are highly desirable.

Desirable Experience:

Experience managing Risk on CAT A programmes is desirable.
