Sr Systems Administrator Job Description:
The position will be within the DATG Infrastructure Operations team which provides technical support, systems management, administration, technology acquisition, and maintain IT policies and standards. This person will be an integral member of the team managing the production infrastructure and day-to-day operations across multiple data centers.
Location: Burbank, CA
Duration: 6 months+
Start: 2 weeks
Responsibilities:
The Sr System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance of systems hardware/software and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to DATG MT&S Policies. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
Required Experience:
- 5 years' Experience of hands on system Administration in a Linux/Unix Environment both Virtual, with multiple hypervisors, and physical.
- 3 years of above Experience managed within a multi data center enterprise with cross replication.
- Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical issues and solutions to peers and external vendors.
- Strong active listening, conflict resolution, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
- Open-minded and passionate about learning new technologies.
Required Key Skills:
Linux OS (Various Flavors) knowledge
- Configure server's via command line
- Install/upgrade/remove packages
- Start/stop/add/remove services
Scripting
- Ruby, Python, JSON Preferred
- Bash, Perl, Required
- Read & understand existing scripts
- Automate a multiple tasks/steps
- Know what a variable/array/associate-array is
Preferred Key Skills:
Automation
- Experience with Puppet, Chef or similar Automation tool
- Create/Edit Modules/Recipes
- Experience with Continuous Delivery and Deployment Automation methods
- Understanding of various SDLC methodologies particularly Agile
