A superb opportunity has arisen for an experience Automotive control Systems engineer, successful candidates will have experience of dSPACe, Matlab and Simulink and control systems design & implementation.

An opportunity has arisen within the team for a control system engineer who can support the development of a battery control system to support the upgrade programme of demonstrator vehicles.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with experience working on prototype vehicles as part of a small team, and be familiar with model based development and auto code generation in a dSPACE ecosystem.

Key Task Areas

- Modify the calibration and code of an existing control system to resolve issues.
- Develop the control system to support a new battery and charger interfaces.
- Develop a pre-existing HIL test system to simulate the new systems.

Competencies

- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to produce and understand technical documentation
- Ability to produce drawings and presentations to communicate effectively with a China based team.
- Strong technical understanding of hybrid/electric vehicle and battery control systems
- Appreciation of the system safety implications and how to achieve a safe design
- Rapid-prototype software development with minimal specification and guidance

Knowledge (qualifications or experience)

Minimum:

- 5+ years' experience using dSPACE, Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow in an auto- coding environment.
- Technical degree in software, electronics, controls or automotive engineering
- Experience of vehicle-level control system design and implementation and calibration.

Desirable:

- Experience with dSPACE MicroAutoBox hardware and CalDesk.
- Experience working with high power electric & hybrid powertrains.
- Experience of automotive traction batteries and switchgear control.
- Experience of battery charging and AC & DC charging standards.
- Experience using CAN calibration tools and CAN database maintenance
- Understanding of vehicle ancillary components (DC/DC, A/C, Heating)
- Second language - Mandarin Chinese
