Description
System Engineer - This is a long term contract opportunity for an experienced System engineer to work in Zurich for a global financial organization. Main tasks are assisting current FX IT Team with profound knowledge and skills on server hardware and operating systems, infrastructure, networking, oracle database, programming UNIX shells and Perl.Furthermore trouble shooting and weekend software integration occasionally will be required.
Knowledge Server Hardware and OSs:
- HP blade enclosure BLc7000 with blade Serv. BL460c Gen8,running Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Topics: Kick start, start up, shutdown, etc.
- Oracle server T51x0 and M5000, running Solaris 10. Topics: start up, shutdown, live upgrade, etc.
- Working knowledge of the concepts of layers, IP and routing, TCP and connections, NAT, firewalls
Knowledge Networking, Programming and Systems:
- Working knowledge of Unix shells and Perl
- Integration of applications distributed over a network
- Trouble shooting higher level issues on lower layers by means of e.g. strace, truss, snoop, tcpdump etc.
- Working knowledge of the concepts of layers, IP and routing, TCP and connections, NAT, firewalls
System- and Network configuration:
- Set-up & configuration of systems (Linux Red Hat Servers,Windows Clients)
- Connectivity to Oracle Databases in close collaboration with a Database Support Team
- Network configurations
- Setting up Backup & Restore
- Managing multiple test environments
- Maintain Archiving, Purge
- Provide solutions for disaster recovery and perform regular tests.
- Set-up scripts to run scheduled tasks
- Set-up and maintain FX trade interfaces
- German and English must
