Job Title: Project Manager

Location: Charlotte, NC

Duration: about a 12 Month contract

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Project Manager will be a detailed oriented, pragmatic, analytical professional with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate must be keenly skilled to meet demanding project commitments, manage communications with/between sponsors, stakeholders, and technical teams. The successful candidate is a well-rounded, project management professional with proven experience in managing multi-year, multi-phase enterprise software projects.

The PM will lead planning and/or implementation of assigned enterprise IT projects through the full life cycle from project definition and approval through implementation and evaluation of all project deliverables in parallel. The PM will facilitate the definition of project missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements; resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects or functional areas; develop methods to monitor project or area progress; and provide corrective supervision if necessary. She/he will advocate on behalf of customers and represent customer needs as appropriate to all levels of the project teams. The candidate will work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes. The ideal candidate will present oral and written reports defining plans, problems, and resolutions to appropriate levels of project members, and stakeholders. Understands and follows to the standard project management methodology.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the project scope and schedule.
  • Partner with the IT resources, key stake holders and external parties to clearly define the project scope, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, and deliverables of the initiative.
  • Develop integrated project plans including schedule, communications plan, and applicable project management artifacts required for the work to be successfully completed and delivered.
  • Conduct project kick-off meetings with core and extended project team members and to explain roles/responsibilities, relationships with other groups, deliverables, timelines, assignments, and status reporting.
  • Ensure that project plans remain up to date - revising and publishing updated plans as projects progress.
  • Conduct periodic project progress meetings with project team members and report out status to stakeholders.
  • Proactively communicate any potential project delays, roadblocks, risks, issues, and potential resolutions, ensuring OMG management is aware of and approving variances in advance of outcome.
  • Use change control procedures to effectively protect and manage the scope of the project.
  • Incorporate quality standards in project implementation.
  • Facilitate project post implementation review session and documents lessons learned.
  • Represent the project at meetings and in group discussions as requested.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • An Undergraduate degree is required; MBA or advanced degree in Computer Technology preferred.
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of increasingly responsible experience, including experience successfully managing multi-year enterprise software projects.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and understand cross-dependencies.
  • Outstanding grasp of information technology concepts and processes.
  • The candidate must have a thorough understanding of project management phases, techniques and tools.
  • Track record of a successful leadership project management, business analyst, quality assurance, compliance, and vendor management staff in an enterprise IT organization.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user - friendly language.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Must have strong and tested project management skills, including sponsor and risk management.
  • Must be able to build coalitions among the various stakeholders; negotiates authority to move the project forward.
