Sr Financial Analyst

Description:
The Senior Financial Analyst provides analytical expertise to multiple Business Units within Finance Operations, including Integrated Financial Services (IFS) and Procurement & Supply Statewide and Regional Services (STARS).

Key focus is on the development of annual operating expense budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long range plans in support of overall strategies and finances. This position conducts budget to actual variance analyses and prepares monthly performance reports for department managers.
As part of the monthly close process, this role will interface with Accounting to validate the accuracy of expenses in IFS and STARS and will be responsible for the calculation of accrual and reclassification journal entries.

The position will prepare monthly deployment reports for the Supply Chain Transformation Initiative (SCTI) and may be asked to complete ad-hoc analyses and reporting for a broad array of issues across the Finance Operations portfolio.

It will serve as the primary resource on the team for the periodic uploading of data into internal financial systems.

May work independently or as a part of a project team and consults frequently with appropriate managers on progress.

Essential Functions:
Provide analytical support in the development and execution of annual business plans and budgets across several Finance Operations teams.
Develop detailed annual operating budgets and develop quarterly and annual long-range operating expense forecasts.
Oversee financial performance of the IFS & STARS business units throughout the year; conduct monthly variance and trend analyses.
Prepare and distribute monthly performance reports to department managers with an emphasis on highlighting the key business drivers of change and making recommendations to help meet operating expense and FTE targets.
Prepare detailed expense and FTE reporting for the Supply Chain Transformation Initiative (SCTI) on a monthly basis.
Prepare calculations for accrual and reclassification journal entries for IFS and STARS departments as business needs dictate.
Responsible for the periodic upload of budget and financial data into internal financial systems.
Identify systemic issues and continually improve processes; integrate updates of internal requirements into department processes.
Support Business Unit links to broader strategic planning, rate setting, and performance updates as needed.
Ad Hoc Analyses: may be asked to conduct research and analyses in support of a broad array of issues across disciplines, projects and functional areas.
Execute analyses independently and as appropriate, work with analysts from other business units.
Assist in responding to urgent ad hoc and routine requests to meet the information requirements of senior leaders and external stakeholders and organizations for critical financial or operational decisions.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or related field

5 or more years of financial planning & analysis and/or strategic planning experience.
Knowledge of several or all of the following: general finance theories and methodologies; accounting principles; large scale business planning; forecasting systems.
Expert proficiency in PC based word processing and spreadsheet applications, including advanced functions such as graphics, pivot tables, and vlookups.
Experience in the Healthcare Industry desired.
Proficiency in PC based presentation and database applications.
Experience with Oracle General Ledger systems and IBM planning tools including Cognos & TM1 a plus.
