Underwriting Porfolio Analyst

My client a leading Insurance company is recruiting for a Underwriting Portfolio Analyst.

The purpose of this role is to support the Pricing & Underwriting Performance Manager in monitoring the underwriting performance of and providing analytical support to our portfolio of personal lines insurance accounts.

We must stress that only candidates with Insurance experience will be processed!

Responsibilities

• Carrying out the monthly premium bookings within the accounting system
• Monitor financial reports to ensure bookings are accurate
• Help to assess new business opportunities. This includes building pricing models and carrying out the associated analysis to accurately project performance.
• Help develop detailed program specific performance models, including recommending changes and improvements and helping to maintain them.
• Production of monthly scheme underwriting performance reports including detailed variance analysis of the actual v expected underwriting performance and where appropriate recommending actions to improve performance.
• Improve content of the reporting produced each month by recommending further areas for investigation. Continuously look for ways to drive efficiency via the identification of process improvements or automating reoccurring tasks.
• Production of the monthly underwriting bordereaux
• Production of adhoc reporting to support underwriting analysis, utilising advanced Excel skills, including VBA where appropriate.

Skills

• Numerical degree and experience of working with data is beneficial
• Spanish language skills essential
• Experience working in an analytical role preferably within personal lines insurance.
• Advanced Excel essential and Excel VBA experience preferable
• Knowledge of SAS is desirable.
• Experience using accounting systems would be beneficial.
