A superb contract opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electronics Design Engineer for a leading automotive tier 1. Successful candidates will have experience of FTA and Functional Safety in the Automotive Sector.

The Role

The Safety Engineer provides day-to-day safety engineering support to his assigned project(s). Large programs, such as initial designs of a new product type, may have a dedicated Safety Engineer. Smaller programs or applications with a high level of re-use, may share a Safety Engineer with other programs. The Safety Engineer is responsible for performing safety analyses and preparing safety reports for a given product. The Safety Engineer receives technical work direction from the Safety Manager.

What we are looking for

Candidates should possess: Essential:
- A degree or similar qualification in electronics engineering.
- Proven experience in electronics design for Embedded systems
- Experience in analysis of electronic systems
- Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262 or IEC 61508) and their practical application in product development
- Experience in deriving and managing requirements for Embedded systems
- Good communication skills
- Strong organisational and inter-personal skills

What you'll do:

Assist planning of safety activities
Generate safety requirements for electronics design and ECU mechanical design
Perform Safety Analyses including Fault Tree, Common Cause and Diagnostic Coverage
Report regular Safety Case Status to Safety Manager
Promote compliance of Engineering with procedures
Co-ordinate engineering support for safety analyses
Present and defend TRW safety case to customers and other outside auditors, inc. travel to customer sites
Communicate status and risks to project & SM

Desirable:

- Experience in systems or software design and development.
- Knowledge in system modelling languages (SysML) and tools
- Six Sigma Green Belt certified
