Description
The App Support Web Hosting team is accountable for all elements of Infrastructure deployment, service delivery and operations, while ensuring global consistency in our tools and processes for each Product, providing a high availability shared and managed hosting service aligned to the global model within Application Support.
Duties involve monitoring, configuration and maintenance of the Webhosting Infrastructure, 3rd level escalation (1st and 2nd Level support is 24x7 off-shore) and 3rd level support/maintenance/consultancy to Business Application IT teams for the Web products on offer. Other duties include capacity, Business Continuity & Lifecycle management
The Infrastructure Analyst will support and lead/execute projects within the Enterprise Web Hosting infrastructure environment on a day-to-day basis. The role reports into the UK App Support Manager as well as the Global Service Lead.
You will be expected to be
An expert in WebSphere, Apache/Tomcat and IIS technologies.
Lead/coordinate/participate in Major infrastructure and Business Driven projects (EoL, BCM, Risk & Audit)
Work with and advise Business application teams to assist them in the roll out of new Java applications
Advise clients on application architecture, infrastructure standards and procedures, and services provided by L2
L3 Incident, problem and change management activities, working with the L2 Dell Managed Service in Singapore
Liaise with the engineering team for 3rd line support and escalation to vendors
Work with PM&E to ensure technical standards are adhered to for the new solutions
DMZ web and network infrastructure management for the internal and external web hosting environment (savvis)
Capcity, Lifecycle, Business Continuty and Risk Management
Implementing service improvements, plans based on incident analysis, operational reporting and audit
Drive the execution of innovative solution and where possible lead major infrastructure projects
Skills Required
- Knowledge of WebSphere Application Server (or similar JEE related product), Apache and Tomcat
- Understanding of Java and JEE concepts, platform skills (UNIX - Solaris/Linux), Storage and Virtulisation
- The capacity to quickly grasp an in-depth understanding of application functionality, basic concepts and methodologies of systems.
- Knowledge of Clustering/Load-balancing technologies and an understanding of TCP/IP, networking, Firewalls, PKI, LDAP and database connectivity.
- Knowledge of Java performance tools, such as Wily IntroScope
- An aptitude for analytical thinking and logical problem solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills with an attention to detail and an ability to follow process
- Good team working skills but equally has to be capable of working alone
- Understand business priorities; adequately prioritize work accordingly to meet business objectives.
- Ad hoc/on-call support during weekdays and weekends.
- Understanding of ITIL procedures
- Ability to work autonomously, maintain professionalism and work under tight deadlines
