DESCRIPTION:

Seeking an IT Data Analyst to work with and support the Small/Medium data enhancements.

The successful candidate will be working alongside the Data Management team to support Small/Medium enhancements or other related projects. Small/Medium enhancements involve additions, changes, research or analysis for existing systems such as:

- Legal Entity Hub, an application that is currently used as the Legal Entity Master

- Compliance System, an application that identifies rules for trading compliance

- Oracle EDQ, an application that checks data quality

- Internally built Private Investments Systems

- SimCorp Dimension, a book of record accounting system

- Master reference, time series or corporate action data

- External feeds from:

- Vendors: Index, Market, Reference, or Corporate Actions

- Investment Partners: External Managers, Brokers

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Delivery of detailed data requirements documentation and sourcing data elements to support required data for multiple systems and/or other projects.

- Providing data analysis effort estimates.

- Profile (content and quality) and assess data during design and development to ensure it meets business needs and is fit-for-purpose (eg missing data, unreliable source, etc).

- Delivery of detailed data requirements for new or changed data models where required, transformations logic for information technology to build new data models or implement data processing improvement initiatives.

- Writing detailed PL/SQL scripts for sourcing data and preparing test cases.

- Providing global securities data expertise and data management leadership to achieve sustainable quality of information needed by the businesses to meet their objectives.

- Developing and maintaining a network of relationships with information technology, data management and the data management project team to manage ongoing processes, controls, and operational service levels.

- Working with appropriate business unit leaders to identify opportunities to standardize, streamline and automate incoming data files and flow of data.

- Understanding vendor data rights and communicates our obligations to our users to ensure we remain compliant with all data vendor contracts

- Developing and implementing data management processes and controls to continually monitor data quality.

- Creating unit tests, integration test, and UAT test plans to certify the data quality for data repository upgrades, new data feeds, and application integrations.

- Documenting policies, procedures and work processes.

- Reviewing Application Design document to assess enterprise data required for metadata registration.

- Building and maintaining metadata.

- Understanding the information technology concepts and ETL processes.

- Provide status in weekly project status meeting and/or daily buzz.

- Assess inter-project risks and dependencies

- Provide daily status reporting.

- Updating and managing the triage worksheet.

SKILLS:

- 5+ years of experience in Capital Markets

- University degree or equivalent experience (Business/Finance, BA, BSc, Financial Mathematics, Accounting or Computer Science)

- CSC - Canadian Securities Course

- Advanced knowledge in PL/SQL and Financial Products.

- Broad knowledge of Finance in general

- Understanding of data legal agreements

- Experience in working with cross functional groups.

- Experience with the full project life cycle from conception to implementation and support

- Experience with Portfolio Accounting Systems, Bloomberg, FAME, FactSet or other financial systems an asset

- Ability to work with minimal supervision

- Must have excellent communication skills.

- Candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision

- Advance designations such as CFA, FRM, MBA, Masters Finance

- Other designations that may be an asset:

- Certified Business Analyst

- Certified Data Management

- Derivatives Fundamental Course
