Group Payroll Manager (iTrent Software)

Working as our client's Group Payroll Manager working with the iTrent Software Systems; the primary objective of the role is to ensure that all employees are paid correctly and on time each month and that all financial and statutory returns are filed accurately and in a timely manner. The successful candidate will also need to ensure that the new payroll system and processes are best in class and meet the requirements of the business. The role will manage a team of ten on a day-to-day basis and is initially being offered as a 3 month contract.

Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years' experience as a Payroll Manager and managing a team of ten
  • Knowledge of iTrent payroll software (essential) with a strong understanding of complex manual payroll calculations
  • An understanding of legislative requirements for payroll processing
  • Experience of payroll integration (decommissioning outsourced payroll or outsourcing a payroll)
  • Able to work in partnership and liaise with other professionals at senior team level
  • An understanding of Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discriminatory Practice issues
  • Knowledge of Business Objects would be a bonus
  • Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) qualified or equivalent

Role and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that the Group's payroll function is fully operational at all times maintaining the Group's employee database ensuring that all changes during the period are reflected and all exceptions are documented and reported to the Head of Finance
  • To process the Group's payrolls on a monthly basis using iTrent software to incorporate contracted hours, statutory deductions and payments, overtime, employee expenses, pensions and other ad hoc payments.
  • To provide meaningful monthly analysis for use by the Finance Team, Operations and the Unit Managers
  • To manage all aspects of employee information and legislative requirements, fully understanding the impact upon employees and the organisation and ensuring that processes are fully compliant with legislation
  • To ensure effective reconciliation of payroll information to the general ledger, gross to net bridges and HMRC returns
  • To be responsible for completing all employment taxes returns including P11D, PSA, Form 42 and others as and when required
  • To effectively manage the payroll team, ensuring that annual appraisals are carried out and the team are appropriately trained in order to deliver excellent customer care to all stakeholders and employees
