Description

The California Sunday Magazine is looking for a freelance web developer to help us builld the story ads for our digital magazine. You would work directly with our sales and advertising team, our technology team, and our brand partners to bulid rich, creative, branded stories for our website and apps in HTML and CSS.

Requirements

  • Two years of front-end web development with HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Experience with cross-browser issues, including mobile browsers
  • An ability to think responsively and how web design works in multiple contexts
  • Self motivated, can take design direction, as well as provide feedback about what works on the web and devices vs. print
Great to Have
  • Experience working in media, magazines or magazine advertising in particular
  • Experience with templating systems like mustache
  • CSS pre-processors like LESS or SASS
  • Work with small teams
  • A love for California and the American West
We currently publish once a month and this freelance position will be to help us build 3-6 unique story advertisements a month for the forseeable future. The work will be concentrated towards the later half of each month and will involve approximately 40-60 hours per month. We are located in SOMA in San Francisco; this position would require you to be available for occasional face-to-face meetings, otherwise you'd be free to work wherever you are most comfortable.
The California Sunday Magazine is a monthly publication distributed to 400,000 readers that tells stories from California, the American West, Asia, and Latin America.
