Our Manchester based Financial Services client is seeking a Mortgage Collections subject matter expert to drive forward business and regulatory change across a multi-site collections call centre.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure that the business area stays abreast of internal and external intelligence to inform strategic and operating plans.
  • Act as the key SME for Operational arrears on bank-wide projects, which will involve attendance and contribution at all key meetings.
  • Attend senior steering committees and provide insight and challenge where appropriate.
  • Lead the development of appropriate operational processes to support Credit
  • Risk Collections strategies across the credit life cycle from Pre arrears through collections and to recoveries.
  • Provide senior subject matter expertise on arrears matters to Executives/Directors to promote awareness and to inform and influence thinking.
  • Work with the operational and change teams across site to develop and lead the overall vision, operating model and strategic plan for operational arrears and oversee its implementation of regulatory change in order to achieve the area's objectives.
  • Sponsor/lead/contribute as appropriate to internal and external projects and initiatives on behalf of the business area, Customer Operations or on behalf of the business
  • Drive the continuous improvement of the end to end processes within the business area, balancing customer/stakeholder needs with process and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure that the business area actively maintains knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements, promoting understanding and embedding of this.
  • Ensure development and maintenance of a framework to identify, manage and monitor operational risks to comply with business, regulatory and legal requirements, and provide the appropriate level of information and assurance to relevant parties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Deep knowledge and experience of both credit risk/collections industry and practices and the related regulatory, political and legislative issues
  • Knowledge of collections and recoveries, specifically in secured arrears
  • Proven track record of working with both large operational and professional teams in a fast moving, multi-site environment (including contact centres)
  • Deep knowledge of the mortgage debt collection industry and practices related to regulatory and political issues
  • Background of building strong internal and external networks.
  • Has relationships across the industry and is seen as an expert within the field
  • Significant understanding/experience of information technology and its application within a debt collection environment, including ability to capitalise on opportunities and potential impact of emerging developments/technologies
  • Demonstrable experience of driving and embedding large to medium sized change
