The School:

A Chemistry specialist is required at a leading Hertfordshire School that has been ranked as "Outstanding" in 2014 by Oftsed. This superb School really supports it's pupil's and employee's. Lunch is provided everyday for the staff by the School as well as the free use of the School's excellent gym facilities. This School also offers boarding to its pupils and is a non denominational Christian Foundation School.

There is a large extra curricular activities programme at the School and all staff are expected to be involved in this. The Department:

Working within the wider Technology Department you will be a specialist in Textiles and Food Technology and be enthusiastic and committed to the department and contribute with fresh and new ideas. The department received superb KS4 results last year and this specialism is very popular with it's students.

The Role:

The successful applicant with have a specialism in Food & Textile Technology

Be able to deliver the curriculum to KS3 & KS4 working with all ages and abilities within these Key Stages

Plan challenging and exciting lessons that will engage pupils in learning

Work to the School's marking policy and assessment calendar

Be able to offer theory as well as practical lessons in this subject

The role has been identified as one where there is 'a demonstrable skill shortage'. A child of a person appointed to such a post on a permanent contract therefore qualifies for the "children of a member of staff" criteria in the school's admission criteria without a 2 year qualifying period. This criteria ranks above all other admissions criteria apart from "looked after children" at both secondary and 6th form transfer time and for the purposes of the waiting list for in-year admissions

- Experience of teaching Core Science to KS4 GCSE Level

- Experience of teaching additional Science to KS4 GCSE Level

- Commitment to delivering outstanding and exciting lessons to pupils in both KS3/KS4
