Solution Architect - Infrastructure

The Solutions Architect is responsible for planning and deployment of the information technology systems, data and infrastructure platform. The Solutions Architect will research, review, analyze, recommend and implement enterprise information standards, architectures and governance processes. Work ranges from conceptual and strategic to tactical and includes integrating current architectures and initiatives as well as initiating and overseeing the deployment of new information technology architecture projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Defines and creates standards, guidelines, and processes for the IT enterprise infrastructure
- Creates and reviews IT enterprise architecture models for business processes and services
- Reviews current standards, guidelines and technologies to ensure compliance with industry best practices and future technology directions
- Assesses options, risks and cost-benefit as it pertains to data architecture, security, and other technology issues
- Develops best practices and security/business continuance standards that support enterprise information security architecture and to ensure the availability, confidentiality and integrity of electronic information
- Conducts studies within and outside organization to ensure compliance with standards and currency with industry security norms
- Evaluation and selection of new enterprise infrastructure technologies and products
Travel requirement: ~ 30%
- Collaborates with IT and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure design, processes and standards are in line with global and Americas IT vision
- Collaborates with infrastructure architecture and application architecture team members to build a cohesive and sustainable company-wide architecture
- Tactical integration with operational and support organization resources, both on daily business as usual activities and ongoing project work
Qualification Profile:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
- 8-10 years of experience in IT infrastructure
Knowledge and Skills:
- Technology knowledge across a broad range of focus areas (networking (LAN/WAN), information security, SAN and storage systems, messaging technologies, virtualization, UNIX, WINTEL, database and data replication technologies, web technologies, programming and development, automation and event management systems, etc)
- Ability to marry technological knowledge with strategic thinking and IT vision
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple organizations and achieve results
- Demonstrable business linkage, customer service, relationship management, change management experience. Ability to translate business needs into technical strategy and IT requirements
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrable experience with process ownership and adherence
- Seeks to constructively challenge and be challenged
