A well-known and leading Automotive OEM require an Engineer to work on their Connected Car project. You will be responsible for developing Telematics units. £26 p/h basic rate, plus £39 p/h overtime.

*Mission and Main Objectives*

Development of Telematics unit to satisfy the E-Call regulation and business requirements within the company Cost Quality and Design standards

*Main Tasks & Responsibilities*

- Implementation of on-board telematics systems in vehicles manufactured in Europe.
- Coordinate specification development with teams based internationally.
- Managing Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to Quality, Cost & Timing targets
- Managing in house and supplier validation of Components Company design standard
- Work with Off Board Connected Car team, test teams (both on board and off board) and customer orientated engineering team to define project development and testing plans
- Collaborate with related engineering sections to ensure all system components are packaged and connected correctly to fulfil system design and regulation requirements.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to ensure technical solution supports business objectives
- Reporting to management at all levels.

*Background & Experience*

- Coming from an automotive electronics development industry, or similar (aerospace, telecommunications etc) you will also have the following education and experience:
- Degree qualified in a related subject essential
- Experience of developing & implementing GPS and telematics based systems
- Relevant experience in automotive electrical and electronic development, completing a minimum of one vehicle development.
- Experience managing Tier 1 suppliers in the development of complex electronic products.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a cross cultural and cross functional team
- Understanding of CAN
- Software and hardware development experience.
- Self motivating, Self-managing, Pro-active
- Flexible approach to business travel
- Fluent English verbal and written language skills essential

*Minimum Education Required*

- Bachelor's Degree

*Specific Technical Skills*

Additionally the following knowledge or experience is very beneficial

- Antenna technology and theory
- Software programming and software quality assurance
- Understanding of electronic mass production techniques and processes.
- CAD systems such as Unigraphics NX or SDRC Ideas

Full European/UK driver's license essential
