Role - Senior Manager - Data Governance

Contract - 6 months

Location - Surrey

Purpose of your role

The Data Governance Senior Manager will be a member of the newly formed Data Governance Office and is responsible for managing the Strategy, Operations and Quality work streams of the company's Data Governance Framework. The overall purpose of the Senior Manager Role is to drive forward the development, implementation and promotion of the Data Governance Framework and the target Data Architecture, which is a key part of the Organisations goals and regulatory initiatives, and provide subject matter expertise on Data Governance to key stakeholders.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in defining Data Governance Strategies and an understanding of how these can be achieved
  • Strong understanding of data and the application of technology within the investment management industry (or possibly investment banking) which may include security and issuer reference, prices, index, counterparties, transactions and portfolios.
  • Strong relationship builder and able to influence at all levels across Front, Middle and Back Office, with senior business, operational and technology stakeholders. Credible at a Senior Executive level.
  • Previous experience of working at a senior level within an operational or technology role.
  • Previous experience of influencing major technology change programmes and stakeholders distributed across a global financial services business.
  • Excellent communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Able to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Able to work at differing levels of detail, both big picture strategy concepts and complex day-to-day detailed issues.
  • Dynamic "can do "attitude with a strong desire to improve and make things happen.
  • Ability to persuade stakeholders, at all levels, of the benefits of Data Governance
  • Degree level education and/or industry professional qualifications (eg IMC) or equivalent experience.

Desirable skills

  • An understanding of Data Governance best practice in the industry
  • An understanding of Data Architecture, Data Lifecycles, Data Quality Standards and Logical Datamodelling practices
  • An understanding of Regulatory and Compliance requirements
