The current opening is for an IT expert to focus on improving the quality and efficiency of analysis processes and tools for an engineering simulation team. The analysis processes and tools include modelling of physics such as fluid flow, heat transfer and structural analysis for diesel engines, construction and mining equipment, industrial/petroleum applications, marine power systems and locomotives. The job will also involve development of a database-driven web application to support the project management functions of the team.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES may include, but are not limited to:
  • Determine needs and requirements by collaborating with team members and participating on team projects
  • Develop applications (scripted or compiled) to automate engineering analysis processes and/or implement new capabilities
  • Develop database-driven web applications to support engineering functions
  • Enhance existing applications and correct software defects
  • Author documentation for processes and tools
  • Support and train users
SKILLS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS;
BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related field. Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and databases (eg, Oracle). Experience with programming/Scripting languages and platforms such as C, C++, Fortran, Java, Python, PHP, .NET, Ajax, JavaScript, SQL, Adobe Flash, XML and HTML. Solid understanding and enjoyment of math and physics. Ability to work independently and in team settings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MS or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related field. Experience with web technologies and application frameworks. Experience with developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) Project management experience. Experience in computational geometry, meshing and/or computer graphics. Experience in engineering mechanics, including fluid flow and stress analysis, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) & Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Experience with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software such as Creo Simulate, Ansys Fluent, Abaqus, Nastran, Hypermesh, Cubit, etc.
