Principal Engineer - Barrow-In-Furness - £40 an hour - 12 Month Contract

This is a great opportunity to join a leading Defence company on a 12 month contract. The specific role is to support the Shock & Dynamics Department through the development and maintenance of bespoke toolsets, to aid both the functional design work (streamlining Finite Element based analyses) and shock qualification and acceptance activities (web-based tools).

The role requires a pro-active approach to seek out all required supporting information while demonstrating personal resourcefulness and a desire to develop and widen professional capabilities.

Experience required for this role:

- Experience working with Finite Element Analysis toolsets.
- Development of mathematical coding for standalone applications or to support Finite Element (FE) or Fluid Structure Interaction Analyses (FSI).
- Experience with Matlab.
- Experience with the Development and maintenance of JavaScript toolsets.
- Experience with the Development and maintenance of Visual Basic toolsets.
- Verification of coding, models and analyses through appropriate checks and sensitivity studies.
- Be able to work various shifts and 7 day working if needed
- The ability to analyse complex problems and identify the most critical issues
- Capable of achieving the appropriate Professional Institution membership
- Sufficient experience to be able to identify unusual characteristics and other departures from normal practice that may require deeper investigation
