My client, a world leader in the aerospace industry for the design and manufacturing of satellite systems as well as other market leading products are currently looking for a Commercial Manager to be based in Portsmouth. This will be a six month contract initially and the rate of pay will be Dependent on experience.

As the Commercial manager you will be responsible for:
Management of all commercial and contractual aspects of third party and export contracts as directed by the Head of Commercial
As required, leads the commercial function in the negotiation of contractual agreements and changes on contracts
Commercial management of tenders and associated commercial agreements to support new business opportunities as required
Provide a commercial service to technical personnel within the department, including the implementation of Non-Disclosure Agreements, the provision of commercial advice and assistance with profitable solutions.

The commercial manager will be aspected to work with the Finance department in the creation of accurate vet material and offer letters and attend tender vets for programmes of responsibility.
Ensure that commercial risks are identified and minimised or offset on nominated programmes where possible.
Manage existing contracts in accordance with company procedures and contractual requirements, to ensure efficient and accurate performance of commercial activities and prompt payment of invoices.

Act as the main commercial point of contact on specified contracts for the customer arranging meetings and discussions as required to ensure the smooth operation of these contracts over the concession period.

Work with the Procurement organisation to advise on key contractual obligations and risks in Prime contract and ensure flow down and mitigation accordingly.

Work with the Finance department in the creation of accurate vet material and offer letters and attend tender vets for programmes of responsibility.

Ensure that commercial risks are identified and minimised or offset where possible on nominated contracts/programmes.

Skills required:

  • proven negotiation and contract management skills with international customers and suppliers
  • Proven background in understanding of international export regulations & processes.
  • Able to gather information quickly and able to identify any risks/damage to the business unit
  • knowledge and understanding of general contractual terms relating to equipment and service provision
  • ability to work in a flexible manner, on own initiative, under pressure and with attention to detail
  • ability to operate at all levels, both internally and with supplier and customer personnel
  • A background working within an MOD/Defence/Aerospace industry or similar
  • travel to the clients and Customer locations as required, UK and overseas
