A leading retail bank based in London currently requires a Compliance Advisory Manager/Partner to join their Commercial Banking Change division, initially for 3 months.

The Compliance Advisory partner will be joinin the Derivative Market Regulation Programme which covers EMIR and Dodd Frank regulations. Providing dedicated support and advice to the business and the project. This assistance is key to the construction of an effective regulatory framework that includes governance arrangements, policies, procedures and other relevant controls, all of which needs to be in place in order to maintain the bank's on-going compliance

The role will also help to design and implement a BAU advisory framework to ensure that those functional areas which support Commercial Banking are, where appropriate, subject to Commercial Banking specific Compliance & Conduct policies.

Providing dedicated compliance support to the Project - in particular providing advice that is practical, informed by a detailed understanding of requirements and that is achievable within time frames and budgets;

Key deliverable:-

  • Interpreting regulatory requirements in a timely manner and feeding key issues back to the project team;
  • To challenge, refine and apply legal and industry opinions and provide timely interpretation for the Project;
  • Actively work with the Projects at all times to ensure that their concerns are promptly responded to and resolved;
  • Representing the interests of CB Compliance on any working groups and committees and acting as the voice of the bank on industry forums such as AFME and BBA as required;
  • Working closely with both CB Advisory Compliance and Project Stakeholders to ensure clear, consistent and continuous communications are maintained on all matters relating to project management; and
  • Actively work with CB Advisory Compliance at all times to ensure smooth and continuously and timely transition to BAU on all relevant matters.

Key skills/experience:-

  • Deep technical knowledge of EMIR and Dodd Frank Title VII requirements, with particular reference to their application to UK Commercial Banking products and service.
  • Demonstrable strong regulatory compliance experience, ideally with a background of at least 10 years in interpreting and practically implementing regulatory requirements;
  • Knowledge and experience must include wholesale products and services together with a good understanding of how an international wholesale bank operates.
