Employee Relations Specialist

One of our large Investment Banking clients is looking for an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join their team

*Successfully manage the most complex and high profile grievance and disciplinary cases primarily in the UK, taking into account legal obligations, regulatory expectations and the bank's risk appetite and ensuring effective risk management at all times.
*Support the Head of Employee Relations EMEA (Head of ER) with the accurate recording, monitoring and reporting of ER cases as directed.
*Provide timely ER related training and education opportunities to the HR Business Partners (HRBP's) and/or Decision Managers from the business.
*Support the Head of ER in influencing and driving the direction of the Employee Relations strategy across the EMEA region.
*Represent the ER team on ad-hoc EMEA and/or global projects and tasks as directed by the Head of ER, eg development of conduct risk scorecard, Equal Pay reviews, global ER related E-learning initiatives.

Tasks
*When acting as a Disciplinary or Grievance Decision Manager: apply extensive ER/Employment Law experience and knowledge to manage cases quickly, effectively and professionally, ensuring that the risk to the bank is mitigated and that decisions reached are fair, consistent and in line with legal obligations and regulatory expectations.
*When partnering with a Decision Manager from the business: support, advise, challenge, influence and educate the Decision Manager to ensure the right outcomes are achieved.
*Facilitate and contribute to discussions with members of the Disciplinary Review Committee (DRC) as necessary to ensure the right disciplinary outcomes are achieved.
*Provide timely status updates and proposed outcomes to key stakeholders, taking into account the "need to know" principle.
*Apply expert drafting skills to produce appropriate outcome letters with minimal supervision.
*Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including the Head of EMEA HR, HRBP's, Legal and Compliance Department (LCD) and the DRC, achieving trusted advisor status.
*Update/develop new ER policies and procedures in conjunction with the Employment Law team as required.
*Design and deliver ER related training and development opportunities to the HRBP's and Decision Managers from the business as required, in collaboration with the Employment Law team.
*Accurately record, monitor and report on ER cases as directed by the Head of ER, including regular and ad-hoc reports for internal and external parties (eg Board of Directors, PRA).

Skills
*Experienced ER specialist with experience obtained within a demanding financial services environment. Or similar
*Must have experience of making decisions and not just advisory level
*Demonstrated understanding of the UK employment law and regulatory frameworks (exposure to, and a full appreciation of, the regulatory environment and the regulator's expectations in the context of employee conduct/disciplinary matters is essential).
*Experience of dealing with a wide range of complex first and second stage grievances and disciplinaries as both a Decision Manager in own right as well as supporting a Decision Manager from the business.
*Experience of working within a complex, fast paced and challenging business environment.
*Excellent organisation, communication, analytical and presentation skills with strong attention to detail.
*Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with key internal stakeholders including senior business individuals.
*Must have confidence, gravitas and credibility together with a robust and resilient personality.
Business acumen with ability to influence upwards to achieve desired results.
