Change & Release Controller

Contract Length: 12 Months
Daily rate: £225 per day (negotiable)
Start Date: ASAP
Location: North Yorkshire

Responsible for change and release processes for all business IT systems. Improving the Release and Change management process and managing technical changes, reducing risk, ensuring full compliance with procedures, industry best practice, audit and regulatory requirements.

Department: IT
Reporting into: IT Manager
Responsible to: Nobody

Responsibilities:

*Continually improving Change and Release Management policies, processes and procedures

*Actively managing 3rd party systems supplier relationships to ensure Change, Release and Implementation policies, processes and procedures are followed

*Maintaining an up-to-date, comprehensive definition of what is a full systems configuration in terms of software

*Maintaining and enforcing all Release, Change and Implementation Management policies, processes and procedures across the IT and Business Change function

*Performing regular software releases to a range of technologies (Oracle, Web, SQL Server etc) and maintaining metrics to measure the effectiveness of the release process

*Ensuring that all work is scheduled, planned and communicated to ensure that business disruption is kept to an absolute minimum

*Ensuring that all changes to systems have been approved and tested and have documented and agreed implementation and back out plans

*Ensuring necessary resources are available and coordinating any system implementations

*Expediting emergency changes, with appropriate controls and risk management

*Generating statistics and reports as required concerning all attempted changes to the 'live' environments

*Performing periodic reviews of change to the appropriate level, to provide analysis and metrics so that continual Change Management improvement can be made

*Working with the internal and external auditors to ensure all audit requirements are met and post-audit actions are implemented within agreed timescales.

*communication - Can readily convey information in a manner appropriate to the current audience. This may include complex or technically specialised messages. Can convey key messages succinctly and in a manner appropriate to the intended audience and in keeping with agreed brand style & tone

Additional Requirements:

*Broad technical understanding
*Excellent skills in software release control practices and the use of SCM tools such as All Change
*Analytical and process thinking. Experience in developing and applying change control procedures
*Experience of performing software release on multiple technology platforms
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Excellent prioritisation, organisational and analytical skills
*Ability to influence others and ensure compliance with adopted procedures

Experience:

*Experience in a Change and Release Management role
*ITIL Foundation

Desirable criteria:

*Experience in the Financial Services industry
