Position Description:

The Library Archivist handles the day-to-day management, cataloguing and indexing of the Turner Sports video archives. Archivists are responsible for the acquisitions, distribution, fulfillment, ingest and rights management of the Turner Sports video collection.

Major responsibilities include providing the most timely, authenticated and accurate research that supports Turner Sports Programming, both on air, on the web and in promotions. The archivists utilize multiple research tools to fulfil requests: web based databases, Internet resources and both traditional and non-traditional researching methods.

The archivists are also responsible for cataloguing and indexing video into the sports central database. This includes assets that are both physical and digital. Archivists need to be familiar with digital media management, also have a familiarity with editing tools, software applications and core acquisition and distribution tools. Other requirements are schedule flexibility and contributing to the libraries policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of video or image cataloging, and a strong understanding of digital asset management

The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, historical and current sports knowledge, flexibility, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, editorial judgment, initiative, trouble-shooting skills, strategic thinking and technologically savvy.

Preferred:

Masters degree in Library or Information Science.
