Design Engineer (Electronic Systems/Architecture/Vehicle Software)

Design Engineer (Electronic Systems/Architecture/Vehicle Software) required by a highly regarded automotive company based in Lancashire. The right Design Engineer (Electronic Systems/Architecture/Vehicle Software) will work on a long term contract basis, with responsibility for delivering electronics and software programs to meet project and program objectives.

The ideal Design Engineer (Electronic Systems/Architecture/Vehicle Software) will come from an electrical engineering background, and have recently moved into design/architecture. You will have the opportunity to work on an exciting global project and working with engineers across a variety of different teams.

You will have the following responsibilities:

  • To develop new/updated electronic systems and their application into the business
  • To project manage component and system suppliers adding value from a comprehensive working knowledge of developing electronics at all levels ie. concept, architecture, systems, components, hardware, software and firmware.
  • To produce detailed component and system level technical specifications, baselines, functionality definitions and development plans.
  • To develop automated functional and systems testing solutions.
  • To provide technical input/guidance/advice at all seniority levels
  • To perform design analysis tasks including system FMEA's and six sigma techniques.
  • To work with diagnostic applications and parameter/programming data.
  • The position is likely to involve travel and involvement in global electronic projects for the wider business

You will have:

  • Practical proven experience and working knowledge of electronic, software and systems solutions ideally from an automotive or related industry field.
  • Practical proven experience of delivering/managing ECU/vehicle software and software projects with demonstrable ability of achieving objectives both individually and as part of a team.
  • Proven experience of creating and managing technical specifications and requirements.
  • A knowledge of serial data communications (ie, CAN).
  • Strong confident planning, organisation and communication skills at all levels.

You will be:

  • A committed/experienced team player able to demonstrate project realisation from concept through design and into successful production
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant electronics engineering discipline.
  • Self-motivated with drive and initiative
