I have a great opportunity for a rounded Release Environments build Manager. This is a real opportunity to affect change within a critical environment. You will not only be involved in shaping this prestigious business area, with the help of a number of direct reports, in the form of environments build technicians, build managers and general infrastructure technicians. Acts as the primary Systems/Service Owner for all of the business applications supported by the group. You will also be the owner of all releases into production ensuring that they occur with no adverse impact on the product system or business operations. The group is moving to an agile approach to delivery and this will result in more frequent releases. Hence the role will involve assisting in driving out the migration to an agile/scrum based approach to delivery. you will be responsible for the provision of adequate infrastructure for all development, testing and production activities. This covers hardware provisioning and rollout, capacity management and performance management as well as management of all technical environments required for all stages of the delivery life cycle and also production.

Key Skills/responsibilities:

  • Demonstrable experience in the areas described above in a medium to large software delivery environment

  • Strong technical skills surrounding environment and infrastructure provisioning and build management.

  • Linux/Unix, SQL skills (preferably Oracle).

  • Evidence on the successful delivery of large scale releases in previous domains.

  • SLA/service delivery experience.

  • Direct line management and mentoring/coaching of technical resources.

  • Effective communication on release management, build management, infrastructure and service delivery to different levels within an organisation.

  • Delivery of releases in an agile delivery environment as well as traditional waterfall delivery.

  • Knowledge of effective delivery practices within an agile/scrum delivery cycle
