Stage of Project: Started. This is part of the SDLC program, which is a Mega Process under IT Process and Tools effort

Job Description:

  • The position is responsible for supporting the delivery of multiple process standardization and improvement initiatives. In this role you will work closely with the IT Departments to implement and drive process foundations and continuous service improvement across the IT Service processes.
  • The Process Excellence Specialist must be a people oriented self-starter who will be an individual contributor and coach/mentor process engineers, process professionals and other IT operations staff. The individual will be accountable for building and maintaining strong working relationships and using process excellence methodology and tools to streamline IT business and operational processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide process leadership and influence direction to SME teams and other IT professionals supporting the delivery of process standardization and improvement for IT
  • Apply consistent methods for selection and evaluation of process initiatives
  • Coordinate with other Process teams to identify cross-program dependencies and leverage resources appropriately
  • Lead process improvement/standardization efforts in an IT field as identified by IT and business leadership
  • Identify defects and eliminate waste, standardize and improve processes
  • Effectively manage process design and improvement projects
  • Enhance individual and team performance by creating a climate of consistent and continuous learning (promote new ideas, conduct knowledge sharing)
  • Mentor and coach other team members
  • Participate in the development and ongoing maintenance of the Process Strategy
  • Continuously improve process engineering toolset
  • Support a team atmosphere which is collaborative, stimulating, challenging and fun

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree with technology, mathematics or business major; Master's Degree preferred

Professional Experience:

  • 15 years' experience in IT Process Excellence Roles (minimum 10 years' professional experience, 5 years in a process improvement role)
  • EITHER
    • Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt/Lean certification and experience with proven results/successful projects, preferred
    • ITIL V3 foundation level certified
    • Working knowledge of IT operations and other processes, especially Asset Management, Configuration Management, SDLC, Incident Management, Problem Management Professional Experience
  • OR
    • ITIL V3 certified ( Managing Across the Lifecycle or ITIL Expert level)
    • ITIL implementation and/or ITIL process improvement hands-on experiences

Required Skills:

  • High level Six Sigma
  • Basic ITIL framework
  • Medium level CMMI framework
  • Some hands-on SDLC experience

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills on every management level
  • Negotiation skills
  • Workshop techniques, team management

Other Requirements:

  • Implementation or audit experience in COBIT/CMMI
  • Deep, working knowledge of at least one of the following processes: Asset Management, SDLC, Change Management, Release Management, Configuration Management, Incident Management, Problem Management
  • Experience using organizational change management, transformation, facilitative leadership, and project management methodologies, and
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, communicate, influence and work effectively with a broad cross section of functional areas
  • Experience with diverse teams and projects or programs in the implementation of large-scale, complex IT process initiatives that achieved financial benefits
  • Prior experience in successful process improvement initiatives working with large, geographically dispersed team of technical professionals
  • Other Process Improvement Methodologies
  • Professional services/consulting experience (defining engagement scope, negotiating commitments, estimating costs and creating statements of work and service level agreements) a definite plus
  • Strong customer focus, integrity and relationship building skills, consensus building skills, success in influencing and ability to delivery measurable results
  • Experience in managing Six Sigma Green Belt projects with benefits between $100,000 to $250,000 annualized savings
  • Strong customer focus with a demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with business sponsors and technologists
  • Prior experience driving change within and across teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or MA in Information Systems Management is a definite plus
  • Health Care industry experience preferred
