Cisco Network Engineer - Data Centre - Amsterdam - €600 per day

Must be based in Amsterdam currently - Preferable to speak Dutch and English

Our client is a leading provider of premium carrier-neutral data centres, operating in cities across Europe. They are looking for an experienced high level Cisco Network Engineer in Amsterdam to undertake a contract for six months with the following

Required skills and experience

  • Experience in designing, implementing, operating and troubleshooting complex data networks in data centre environments
  • Expert-level understanding of Layer 2 and 3 internetworking technologies
  • Sound understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP, access-control lists, policy-based routing, Firewalls, peering, and DNS
  • Significant design, implementation, and troubleshooting experience with protocols such as OSPF, MPLS and BGP in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX and ISG Firewalls.
  • Experience with F5 load balancer preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyse and research problems of a complex nature, make judgement decisions and recommendations as to their solution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven skills in problem solving and decision making
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership and mentoring skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation).
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of MPLS, BGPv4, OSPF, EIRGP,

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, computer science, or equivalent work experience preferable
  • 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer
  • Motivated self-starter who has the ability to lead by example and approach technical problems with creative solutions to aid the account team and business development
  • Strong knowledge of internetworking designs and their applications, to include IP subnetting and complex routing techniques on LAN/WAN networks, Security.
  • Deep understanding of BGPv4, OSPF, MPLS
  • Industry leading certifications preferred (Cisco, Juniper and others)
  • Effective presentation, analytical, communications and customer relationship skills
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Ability to work as a team for project deliverables.
