Summary:
Our client's Managed Services organization has an immediate need for a Senior Network Engineer that will provide support for our Application Hosting solutions. This position will partner with the architectural design team to modify, document and communicate projects to operations. The role will also serve as a top resource for operational escalations both internally and with external clients as well as provide technical expertise and function as a SME regarding network engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Provide planning, leadership, direction, and advanced technical expertise regarding computer and network services for both local and wide area networks, including acting as a liaison to outsourced network providers both internal to company and 3rd party vendors.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, configuration and maintenance of complex networks, including assistance to customer technical resources.
- Assess need for any network reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them as required in accordance with change control policy.
- Participate with Architecture team on network roadmap planning, including recommending, scheduling, and supporting network improvements and upgrades.
- Participate in pre-sales engineering activities for Application Hosting potential customers to ensure solutions are appropriately specified based on Managed Services Best Practices and Standard Development Methodology.
- Coordinate Network related implementation activities across various functional groups to help prioritize and schedule appropriate resources.
- Partners with clients in planning, executing technical tasks such as conversions, interfaces, integration, issue resolution, assessment of system environment readiness, and installation.
- Project management of the technical tasks associated with the implementation of the business solutions in complex environments assuring the timely and quality completion of the deliverables.
- May lead multiple technical projects simultaneously and is the main point of contact for a client.
- Evaluates project for process improvements and makes recommendations in continuous quality improvement and leads the implementation of process changes and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provides recommendations on the process improvements related to implementation processes and leads the efforts to create improvements
- Participate in process improvement and standardization initiatives, including documentation.
- Provides mentoring and knowledge transfer to other network engineers, as needed
- 8+ years experience in the operations of a company's internal data communications systems, including LANs and/or WANs
- Experience leading large enterprise projects and requirements
- Expert knowledge of Cisco Nexus in Data Center architectures (Nexus 5000, 7000)
- Expert knowledge of Cisco UCS networking
- Expert knowledge of Cisco UCS fabric InterconnecT
- Knowledge of Cisco UCS Director
- Knowledge of routing protocols: OSPF, RIP/RIPv2, IGRP/EIGRP, BGP
- Expert knowledge of BGP
- Expert knowledge of supporting and implementing MPLS solutions
- Knowledge and support capabilities of multi-tenant environments
- Expert knowledge of Nexus OS, Cisco IOS
- Familiarity with Citrix Load Balancing
- Experience with EMC VMAX SAN Storage
- Experience working in a VBLOCK environment
- Working knowledge of Spanning Tree protocol
- Operational level experience with the Cisco IOS and route switch equipment
- Cisco WAAS
- Operational experience with Cisco (PIX 500 series, ASA 5585 series) & Palo Alto Firewalls
- Strong technical documentation experience and accomplishments
