What You Should Be
Front End Developers (FED) on the Voce Platforms team are typically involved in a wide variety of projects for clients large and small. You will be in charge of structuring clean, efficient markup, stylesheets and jQuery/javascript. You’ll need a strong attention to detail as they work diligently to integrate and thoroughly test designs in a wide range of devices and browsers. You should look at the variety of different viewports as an interesting challenge and opportunity rather than hassle.
What You'll Do
- Be responsible for markup, stylesheets and javascript on a variety of projects for one of our largest clients. This mostly includes responsive websites but could also be web applications or stand-alone pieces.
- Promote web standards and valid, error-free code.
- Work with designers and developers in a productive team environment
- Advocate optimum performance and experiences.
- Understand industry best practices and emerging trends.
- Demonstrate technical proficiencies such as CSS3, HTML5, jQuery and JavaScript
- WordPress theme development.
- Produce cross-browser compatible and responsive code for all viewports.
What You'll Need
- Minimum 1-3 years basic front end development
- Real examples of previous work for clients w/ live URLs
- Deep understanding of web standards
- General understanding of web fonts
- Basic understanding of a mobile-first approach to development
- Experience with taking a design from a Photoshop document and turning it into efficient HTML/CSS
- Basic understanding of common site speed techniques
What We'd Love
- Experience with Sass
- Experience with Bootstrap
- Understanding of distributed version control systems (Git)
- Familiar with collaborative development
- Understanding of WordPress community and themes
- Enough jQuery to prototype or mockup complex interactions as needed
What You’re Really Wondering
We’re looking for a short-term hire, minimum 90 days, with potential for extending the contract or a full-time position after the initial 90 days. Typical work week will be 30-40 hours, with 30 guaranteed. This position can be completely remote, completely on-site in NY, or a mixture of both. Hourly rate is negotiable depending on your experience and skillset.
