Systems Engineering Lead with previous Systems integration skills required to join a leading defence company in Rosyth. Please note, the successful candidate will be required to gain SC Clearance.

Purpose of role:

The System Lead acts as the on site systems engineer responsible for day-to-day management and technical oversight of the installation, setting to work, integration and acceptance activities of the Mission Systems' capability delivery to the QEC Aircraft Carriers. The system lead will be the principal interface between supplier installation & setting to work teams and the yard production teams within the Real Time Systems delivery team. To verify successful completion of installation and setting to work, the System Lead will be responsible for authoring the System Interface Diagrams (SIDs) and relevant test forms.

Success will be measured by:

Timely resolution of system setting to work and integration issues on ship
Efficient supervision and management of suppliers while on site in Rosyth
Successful completion of relevant milestone reviews in preparation for entry into each phase of delivery, installation, setting to work, integration and acceptance.
High quality support to factory acceptance and integration & acceptance engineers during group integration, harbour acceptance trials and sea acceptance trials activities.
SIDs and Test Forms issued in a timely manner and to the quality expected by the Engineering Management and the Aircraft Carrier Alliance Commissioning Team.

Additional Information

Company/Industry Knowledge:

Good understanding of BAE Systems Engineering Lifecycle, policies and procedures.
Good understanding of the equipments and engineering processes used on Integrated Military systems. Previous experience in RN, T45, T23 or QEC projects would be desirable.
Good understanding of warship sensor and combat management systems desirable.
Appreciation of ship build processes and methodologies and experience of working within a ship build construction and commissioning environment.

Responsibilities

Major Tasks and Activities:

Principal Responsibilities

Provide technical oversight and liaison with the Real Time System suppliers and the RN client during the modification, installation, setting to work and integration in support of QEC requirements.
Produce engineering design documents and maintain the Engineering design baseline.
Drive the day-to-day activities to achieve successful system implementation and integration activities on ship, reacting to issues and interfacing/negotiating with relevant parties to keep programme on track.
Lead the integration and commissioning readiness reviews - Engineering Manager will be chairperson
Raise and implement ECRs, actions, NCs and ORs as they arise from platform and supplier activities.

Other Responsibilities

Ensure that the company engineering processes are correctly applied.
Provide evidence of a compliant solution.
Ensure that relevant engineering metrics are collected and managed.

Key Technical Skills:

Systems integration skills - progressive design, integration and verification of delivered subsystems
Knowledge of Systems engineering processes and techniques, preferably in the naval domain
Ability to define and review technical acceptance criteria and test procedures.
Ability to promote and develop technical excellence that will not compromise schedule within the team.

Key Leadership/People Management Skills:

Ability to supervise, direct and negotiate with supplier teams.
Ability to promote and develop technical excellence within the team that will not compromise schedule.
Ability to mentor members of the team in support of technical development.

Key Interpersonal/Behavioural Skills:

Ability to develop effective partnerships with a variety of stakeholders.
Be proactive and adopt a professional approach to dealing with the customer community and colleagues within the ACA team.
