Description
Urgent Requirement for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on existing automotive product development.
Main Responsibilities (key tasks)
*Preparation, production and modification of design schemes, calculations, specification and detail drawings, and BOMs.
*Use industry standard approaches to determine the root cause of failure.
*Help develop issue containment in the field where required.
*Engineer designs for Field and Production corrective actions and implement measures to prevent their reoccurrence.
*Adhere to and improve through working groups Engineering Guidance and Standards. Follow engineering guidance and standards (BS8888)
*Identify testing requirements for proposed design changes.
*To liaise with suppliers, sub-contractors and customers where required.
*Support the customer in conjunction with the regional service manager and reliability team. This may require site visits to worldwide locations but should be mostly UK based.
*Take responsibility and be aware of product cost throughout the design engineering process.
*To ensure and demonstrate Continuous Improvement in all aspects of product engineering and design as appropriate.
*To ensure service requirements are included in design.
*Investigate and determine solutions to service and warranty engineering issues and where appropriate incorporate known issues with current design work.
*Identify issue rectification requirements in the current product range and future development.
*Support future product development and configuration by maintaining and rationalising the product Matrix.
