Vendor Delivery Manager

Space and Power

As a member of the Vendor Delivery Management team, you will plan, facilitate, and manage the deployment of new services purchased from third-party suppliers and vendors. You will work closely with the technical negotiation team to understand the terms of new contracts and arrangements including delivery targets and technical requirements. VDM project managers also work closely with internal project management teams to communicate target completion dates and ensure that all internal requirements are being met in a timely manner. You will direct and manage vendors during installation of services and ensure that all services meet contracted technical specifications. Ensure that services are delivered correctly and on schedule, and facilitate communications between all relevant stakeholders both internal and external.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of large scale network infrastructure projects involving dark fiber, collocation space & power, and inside plant fiber from inception through delivery. Ensure facilities are delivered on schedule and meet technical specifications.
  • Project manage 3rd-party datacenter vendors in new POP footprint builds and existing POP footprint expansions, ranging from 1 additional cabinet to 250 new cabinets.
  • Develop materials requirements and track the ordering, shipping, and installation of cabinets, cable and power conveyance, panels, bulk fiber and structured cabling.
  • Ensure site delivery with adherence to proper grounding and power standards, rack layout, conveyance routing and placement, cooling systems, diversity of POE access/routing.
  • Serve as primary vendor contact for these activities during implementation phase. Escalate up vendor management chains as necessary if delivery time lines are at risk.
  • Lead kickoff and regular project status meetings while keeping downstream teams apprised of project and delivery status. Manage exceptions and communicate issues and risks to the rest of the organization.
  • Obtain, distribute, and maintain all vendor handover documentation. ie Floorplans, LOA/CFA, DLR, Completion notification, test results, and technical drawings while working with vendors and client staff to coordinate and facilitate service and site acceptance activities.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years experience in a telecom-related field
  • Extensive technology-related project management experience in a data network environment.
  • Experienced in the delivery of telecommunications infrastructure and space and power from third-party suppliers. AC/DC power, recitifers, Hot and Cold aisles, raised floors.
  • Deep understanding of interconnectivity requirements within carrier hotels including physical interfaces, cable types, connector types and riser details.
  • Excellent organizational, project-management and communicationisles, skills
  • Technical knowledge of DWDM based optical transmission systems. Strong knowledge of Telcordia GR 1275, 1502, 2981, NFPA, ANS/TIA/EIA standard
  • Strong skills in development of Statements of Work (SOW), MOPs and an understanding and managing vendor provided handover packages - project managing internal teams to qualify handover packages
