Job Description:
The Scientist, Biochemist will perform laboratory experiments required for the conduct of protein safety studies, which support the deregulation or approval of transgenic plants. The purpose of these studies is to (i) characterize the expressed novel proteins, (ii) quantify the protein expression levels in various plant tissues, (iii) characterize the protein test substances used in a variety of ecotox and toxicological studies, and (iv) determine the stability of the proteins in either plant tissues or food/feed matrices. In addition, the Scientist, Biochemist will assist in the preparation of the Final Reports for the safety studies conducted.
Tasks Include:
  • Perform Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) laboratory experiments to support Study Directors and Principal Investigators in the conduct of regulatory protein safety studies.
  • Assist in the preparation of the GLP Final Reports.
SKILLS:

Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Ph.D. degree in protein biochemistry, biology, molecular biology or comparable studies with a focus on protein biochemistry with 5 years of experience of research experience or MS with 10 years research experience or BS with 13 years research experience.
  • Experience in documentation and writing study protocols and high quality technical reports.
  • Strong written and oral communication, organization, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Detail and results oriented.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Preferred:
  • Previous work experience in a research or industry laboratory environment.
  • Previous work experience in GLP environment.
