JOB DESCRIPTION:

The solution architect will be responsible for designing: Overall application(s) architecture, application component designs, systems integration, interface exchanges, systems security, and implementation plans. This individual must have experience in system and requirements analysis, design, implementation, and deployment of complex software applications in large government organizations. This individual is knowledgeable in all aspects of system integration and has extensive knowledge of complex network systems and hardware. The individual is confident in developing requirements and design specifications for new and existing applications. This position serves as a leader in the integration of multiple system solutions and application design. The Solution Architect will work closely with client's Enterprise Architects in designing and integrating overall solutions.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, work-flow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, system inputs and outputs
  • Architect solution options in accordance with Enterprise Architecture and security standards.
  • Review conceptual architecture options with business clients and other technical experts.
  • Define and document the application architecture
  • Work with the developers to design the components/object/data structure of the application and interfaces and exchanges
  • Coordinate system development to ensure consistency and interoperability with existing systems and COTS solutions
  • Analyze and estimate feasibility and compatibility with hardware and other software and applications
  • Work closely with Enterprise Architects and provide ongoing status
  • Provide coordination and leadership for vendor project resources
  • Consult with clients to prototype, refine, test, and debug applications
  • Write and maintain hardware and software infrastructure documents
  • Write and review implementation and operational documents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in advanced technologies
  • Minimum of 4 years experience architecting enterprise, technical solutions
  • Demonstrated experience with application solution design utilizing MS Biztalk, .NET, MS SQL Server, IBM DB2, Z/OS Mainframe
  • Strong, demonstrated application design and development skills (object-oriented analysis and design techniques)
  • Strong, demonstrated design skills utilizing UML and MS Visio
  • .NET application design and development
  • Business/Consumer-facing web applications and Web Services
  • Experience with design and implementation of NIEM compliant data exchanges
  • Familiarity with PCI standards and point of sale application deployment and integration
  • Web services design/development
  • Project technical leadership capabilities, design and development oversight
  • Experience integrating solutions across disparate platforms including distributed, web-based, and IBM Mainframe
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience on large government technology solution projects specifically in support of a State Motor Vehicle Organization
  • Experience architecting solutions in accordance with State and/or NC DOT Enterprise Architecture, security, and project management standards and methodologies.
  • Strong application, information, and integration architecture skills
  • Comprehensive IT analytical skills and strong problem-solving analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of various multi-user, multi-tasking operating systems/platforms (Unix, Windows, z/OS)
  • Legacy, Mainframe application modernization experience
  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer confidence in ability to deliver to business needs.
  • Develop technical design specifications according to development standards.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create and advise on solutions for various project needs
