Financial Analyst - Accounting
Location: Downtown Toronto
Contract: 6 months
The Financial Analyst is responsible for performing daily operational activities within the Corporate Accounting team, assisting with month-end processes and preparation of financial statements, and providing technical accounting guidance. A major focus of this role will be defining and implementing improvements in financial processes, documenting accounting policies & procedures, as well as working collaboratively with other teams within Finance to accomplish department wide goals and objectives.

Here's what you'll get to do:

  • Assist with month-end processes, including accuracy and timeliness of all journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and general ledger closing.

  • Assist in the preparation, analysis and review of monthly/quarterly/annual Partner Reporting, Departmental Reporting, Financial Statements, and related schedules.

  • Identify and document areas for improvement to strengthen the financial and accounting control framework, and deliver efficiencies in business operations and reporting.

  • Improve productivity in Operational and Finance processes through re-engineering and automation of manual tasks and implementation of key controls (i.e. Bank reconciliation, Fixed Asset Module, PO system).

  • Provide accounting/financial support to all functional areas of our organization.

    Here's what we're looking for:

  • University degree in Business or Finance

  • Advanced MS Office skills (advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Access). SQL knowledge an asset.

  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience

  • Experience with major ERP, preference for NetSuite or SaaS based ERP

  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability

  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, execution and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to think beyond the task at hand and consider the broader landscape
