Financial Accountant - Finance Manager required for a leading global Defence company based in Andover.

Day to day duties:-

Financial Accounting:

  • Produce unqualified annual accounts to feed into the Annual Report and Accounts in accordance with the business timetable and to the satisfaction of the National Audit Office.
  • Ensure the financial accounting policies are consistent with FReM, UKGAAP, IAS and IFRS as appropriate.
  • To ensure that the purchase ledger is maintained such that records its liabilities accurately and pays its suppliers in accordance with all payment policies.
  • Ensure integrity of accounting data via robust and timely transactional processing and regular review processes for management information in an ERP business environment.
  • Manage financial accounting teams and activities to include financial accounting, treasury, payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, sales ledger, travel claims, government procurement cards and fixed assets areas of CFT.
  • Policy and Procedure

  • Assist the Business Process Owner for finance in being effective in ensuring the Business System contains complete and up to date policy and process leaflets.
  • Drive the need to ensure financial representation in all key activities throughout.
  • Align financial aspects of wider policies and procedures by active integration with senior business colleagues, particularly with procurement, purchasing, commercial and human resource functions.
  • Miscellaneous:

  • Interface constantly with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and appropriate consideration of all issues.
  • Represent the financial interests by deputising for the Head of Accounting when required, and more generally to prevent potential stove piping of business issues.
  • To drive continuous improvement and professionalism throughout the financial accounting team and out into all key stakeholder teams
  • To be actively engaged in the development and optimisation of cross functional activities both on and around the ERP platform to deliver financial and business benefits.
  • Essential Skills:

    • Previous Financial Accountancy experience
    • Must be SC clearable
    • Formal Financial Qualifications
    • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
    • Must have worked with a Planning system
    • Held a senior position previously
