Responsibilities:
  • Review electrical deliverables defined in the ESS&T SOP's for new product designs and modifications to existing designs and provide findings to the new product development team, sustaining engineering team, or the manufacturing team.
  • Documents to review include engineering specifications, electrical schematics, electrical tolerance analysis, design FMEA's, PCB layouts, electrical qualification and test plans, and manufacturing test procedures.
  • Participate in electrical design review meetings.
  • Perform multiple safety reviews concurrently with attention to detail and facts.
  • Be able to manage their time to complete assigned tasks and commitments, and set priorities based on management and customer input.
  • Demonstrate effective presentation and communication skills regarding electrical safety issues in front of managers and peers.
  • Know when it's appropriate to use email, instant-messenger, phone, and other tools to communicate with team members or others. Also, know when to communicate that commitments are endangered.
  • Work independently and only receive instruction on complex work assignments.
SKILLS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor/Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ years industry work experience involved in new product development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.)
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
  • Understanding of power electronics topologies used in power supplies.
  • Understanding of Design for Six Sigma methodology and Statistical Process Control.
  • Knowledge of power supply design, analysis, and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of power semiconductors, microcontrollers, and basic control techniques.
  • Understanding of product validation and manufacturing test procedures.
  • Able to perform forensic and root cause analysis of product electrical failures.
  • Able to draft safety related guidelines and specifications.
  • Able to perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA.)
  • Familiar with the regulatory requirements for information technology equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic printed circuit board design and assembly (rigid and flexible types.)
