Finance Business Partner - Warwick - 6 months - Negotiable Daily Rate

A leading Energy and Utility clients is looking for an experienced Finance Professional to join their site in Warwick, as part of their commercial property team.

Job Purpose:

The Finance Business Partner will support the strategic and tactical priorities for the Corporate property business and other support functions, through delivering insight and value to improve decision making, and drive new opportunities, for growth and business performance.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Contribute to all key strategic and commercial decisions, plans, budgeting and forecasting to help drive business performance, working closely with the Corporate Property management team, other leadership teams within Support Functions and the Senior Finance Business Partner ensuring all financial aspects are considered.

2. Assess and model the benefits, financial risks and impacts of existing and potential new initiatives/projects, in order to maximise favourable outcomes enabling the support functions to 'live within RiiO allowances'.

3. Undertake (in conjunction with relevant functional contract managers) supplier contract reviews, third party expenditure reviews & supporting contract negotiations, as appropriate, in order to deliver increased value and cost effectiveness for National Grid.

4. Perform cost analysis, identifying and monitoring cost saving opportunities across the cost base in order to drive/support efficiencies.

5. Monitor and drive the financial performance including cashflow, product, service, customer and competitor analysis, to ensure short and long term targets are met. Support functional management teams in developing their financial and commercial acumen.

6. Work with Process Finance management team, functional management team & others in assessing, monitoring & reporting value realisation and benefits tracking associated with Projects & Process improvements.

7. Maintain the financial control framework for the business, ensuring adherence with Sarbanes-Oxley controls and improving control processes and policies to address any control gaps.

8. Ensure that the month end close is performed appropriately and develop the specification and maintenance of a suite of periodic reporting to support business performance analysis and decision making.

9. Undertake analysis of delivery against regulatory output commitments and impacts of non-delivery and ensuring the business is fully aware of the financial impact.

10. Support the effective management and productivity of the business unit by supporting analyses of labour productivity, workforce planning and total remuneration, working closely with the HR Business Partner

11. Lead and develop up-to-date models of opex and capex interactions, and assess the associated risk impact in order to continually inform decision making.

Technical Capabilities (Knowledge, Skill, Experience):
Professional accounting body qualification (eg ACCA/CIMA) or significant, broad business experience (financial, management and/or project accounting experience). Graduate level.
Clear understanding of the strategic and financial direction of National Grid used to input into long term visioning and recognise business priorities, drivers, obstacles and challenges
Demonstrated ability to influence and support strategic and tactical change, fostering innovation and informed risk taking to achieve business goals.
Track record of developing collaborative working relationships with the business, the rest of Finance and other Business Partners through regular communication, active knowledge sharing and being responsive to feedback
Ability to constructively challenge, asking relevant and sometimes difficult questions, to encourage the business to consider new opportunities and drive performance
Understands the business language and is able to communicate the financial implications of decisions in an engaging way that gets buy-in and improves the financial acumen of the business
Main interfaces - Internal:

Business management teams, Departmental management teams within the relevant functions, UK Finance Managers, Shared Services Finance staff & managers, Regulatory Reporting team, Process Teams, RIIO Delivery Team.
