Job Description:
Candidates are needed to work in the state of Michigan on a remediation project. This project will occur statewide and consists of the upgrade and replacement of most equipment currently used in the communications system. Candidates will be expected to travel to various locations as assigned by one or more project managers and perform various tasks. Dependent on the phase of the project.
Responsibilities:
  • The Remediation project includes the upgrade of numerous consoles at various dispatch centers, replacing STR type base stations with GTR base stations at 79 remote sites, power plant replacements and complete microwave system replacement for 183 microwave paths.
  • Candidates are expected to use Customer Service Software (CSS) to program and optimize base stations and use an RF wattmeter or power sensor to measure and set RF power to the proper levels.
  • They will also be required to understand and use a communications service analyzer to measure and set such parameters as frequency, modulation etc.
  • Candidates are expected to possess excellent computer skills and a moderate level of network knowledge.
  • They will be required to know how to join client computers to domains, program IP addresses and perform general troubleshooting tasks.
  • Candidates will be expected to perform wiring and cabling in a neat and organized fashion.
  • Computers, software, service analyzers, meters and hand tools will be provided.
